Who We Were & Who We Are Now!
The Cruise Shoppe of Boulder
Since 1995, The Cruise Shoppe of Boulder specialized in the "Cruise" Industry as well as the "Travel Insurance" Industry.
In 2024 we retired the "Cruise" division and the "Brick and Morter Office" of our business model in hopes of slowing down for retirement ourselves.
However, we found ourselves travelling so much and in need of travel insurance, we decided to keep our Insurance licenses to assist us with our own insurance needs, but, to also help our 30 plus years of clients with their travel insurance needs as well.
We knew then and we know now, how important Travel Insurance can be as not only have we sold it for years, we have also had to make claims ourselves.
We understand the importance of Travel Insurance, but we also know how important it is to be explained properly so you, as a consumer can make an educated decision on which travel protection policy would be best suited for you and your specific travel needs.

Many travel arrangements are non-refundable, and the best airline and cruise deals may only provide few options if you must cancel your trip due to covered reasons.
Your personal medical insurance may provide little to no coverage when traveling abroad.
These situations are becoming more and more common in today's travel world!
Quick note on travel insurance offered by cruise lines, tour operators, all-inclusive resorts etc. Most of their policies are typically more expensive, secondary coverage policies and tend to be difficult when making a claim.
Primary Coverage vs Secondary Coverage
While not all travel insurance and travel insurance companies are created equally, we believe that the companies we represent give you the best options to choose from, whether being Primary or Secondary coverage policies, we have both types of policies represented.
Choosing between purchasing a primary or a secondary coverage should depend on several factors, including but not limited to your personal health insurance, destinations, and risk tolerance.
PRIMARY COVERAGE EXPLAINED:
Primary Coverage Policies, yes while more costly, pay out first, no matter what type of any other insurance you may have. If you incur a covered medical expense while traveling, the primary travel insurance provider processes and reimburses you directly without requiring you to file a claim with your primary health insurance first.
FACT:
Primary Coverage Policies tend to have a faster claims process due to not having to wait for your personal health insurance provider to respond. You do NOT need to contact your personal health insurance provider and reduces the hassles of working with multiple insurance companies, claims and extra paperwork.
SECONDARY COVERAGE EXPLAINED:
Secondary Coverage Policies, which are less costly, and require you to file a claim with your own primary health insurance company before filing through your travel insurance provider.
Your primary health insurance company may cover some or none of the claim. In this kind of scenario, the travel insurance provider can cover the remaining covered eligible expenses up to the policy limits and the maximum amounts your choice of insurance will cover for a specific claim, if it’s within the policies coverage benefits.
FACT:
Secondary Coverage Policies are less costly than primary coverage policies yet still provide financial protection for costly medical expenses. Secondary Coverage Policies also require additional paperwork and coordination with your personal health insurance provider; your reimbursement may be delayed and could be subject to out-of-pocket costs like deductibles and coinsurance
